Sara Laux Akin

Author Sara Laux Akin

Sara Laux Akin grew up in Appleton, Wisconsin where as a child her home was surrounded by three parks and a ravine, the perfect place for imaginary play.  When she wasn't "pretending" with her brother and sisters, or visiting the library with her mom and dad, she was happily reading in one of her many "forts."

She created her first "book," Fred Frees Frieda, for a third grade class project.  Laminated and ribbon bound, it was cataloged and shelved in her school library.  That's when her dream of becoming a children's author and having a book registerd in the Library of Congress began.

Sara's first picture book, Three Scoops and a Fig, with Peachtree Publishing, will be out fall 2010.  She has also sold fiction to both Highlights and Ladybug magazines.

Sara has a master's degree in Speech/Language Pathology from Marquette University.  She lives in the Milwaukee area with her husband, their two daughters, and a puggle named Bella.
