Tracy Helixon

Author Tract Helixon

Tracy Helixon began writing at age five, when her parents found her scribbling all over her little brother. When they asked what she was doing, she said, "Timmy thought he was a piece of paper." To Timmy's relief, she now uses a computer to write her stories.

Tracy has taught writing and speech at La Crosse’s Western Technical College for eleven years. Her stories have appeared in Pockets, Stories for Children, and Knowonder magazines. The Knowonder story took second place in the magazine’s monthly reader contest. Her first picture book, Little Isaac’s BIG Adventure, will be published by Guardian Angel Publishing in 2011. Tracy has also written feature stories for adults in La Crosse Magazine and Western’s Essential Experience. She enjoys writing about history, everyday life, and magical adventures. Tracy holds an M.S. in Education from UW-La Crosse and an M.A. in English from Winona State University.

Tracy and her husband, Chris, live in the La Crosse area with two sons and a daughter. Tracy’s favorite things include family adventures; books; travel; church; sunny days; campfires; crunchy, colorful fall leaves; Christmas lights; Ireland; and chocolate chip mint ice cream.
